BJP MP Alleges Delhi-Ranchi Escape Drama Hemant Soren Faces ED Grilling in Money Laundering Probe

Here’s a breakdown of the events leading up to this dramatic episode:

  1. On Monday (January 29), an ED team was dispatched to Hemant Soren’s Delhi residence after receiving information about his presence in the capital. Soren, who arrived in Delhi on January 26 for legal consultations, was expected to fly back on a chartered plane.
  2. Despite an ED team stationed at the airport, Hemant Soren was not found at his Shanti Niketan residence in New Delhi. The agency seized ₹36 lakh in cash, two BMW luxury cars registered in Haryana, and some documents.
  3. BJP leaders claimed that Soren was missing for over 30 hours, prompting Jharkhand BJP chief Babulal Marandi to announce a cash prize of ₹11,000 for information on Soren’s whereabouts.
  4. Hemant Soren, allegedly on the road from Delhi to Ranchi, covered a distance of approximately 1,300km, taking around 21 hours.
  5. Upon reaching Ranchi on Tuesday, Soren held two meetings, countering the BJP’s ‘missing’ narrative with shared photos. He paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi on his death anniversary and cryptically responded to questions about his whereabouts.
  6. In a strategic move, MLAs signed a letter of support without names, amid speculations that Hemant Soren’s wife, Kalpana Soren, might be proposed as the chief minister if he is arrested.
  7. Nishikant Dubey alleged that Hemant Soren’s brother and sister-in-law, both MLAs, objected to the proposal of making Kalpana the CM, given that she is not an MLA.
  8. JMM argued that since Hemant Soren had informed the ED of his intention to speak with them on January 31, the agency’s visit to his Delhi residence on Monday was unnecessary.

Hemant Soren is set to face questioning in a money laundering case linked to an alleged land scam. The political drama unfolds as both sides trade accusations and the ED intensifies its probe. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
