On the auspicious first day of the New Year, a multitude of devotees thronged the revered shrine of Khwaja Garib Nawaz in Ajmer. This sacred site, built in memory of Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti, stands as a quintessential Sufi shrine, drawing pilgrims from across the globe in search of divine peace and blessings.
The shrine of Mu’in al-Din Chishti, affectionately known as Moinuddin Chishti or Gharib Nawaz (‘comfort to the poor’), holds a unique spiritual significance. Pilgrims from diverse backgrounds converge here to have their prayers heard and answered. On the night of December 31, devotees gathered at the shrine, fervently praying for the prosperity of their families and the nation.
“I can tell you that the spirit of the Gharib Nawaz, after eight centuries, is still here. We can feel the love he has given us. And all those young people who are here are getting that love for themselves. That is why they come and feel it,” expressed Oliver Schiffish, a pilgrim from Budapest, Hungary.
“That is the future for all of us. Because the youth are our future. And if the youth is empowered or soaked with love, then everything would be good,” he added.
Aftab Qadri, a Sufi artist, shared his sentiments, stating, “A lot of pilgrims have come here to express their faith. I would like to extend my wishes for the New Year.”

His teachings, with a particular emphasis on educating the impoverished masses about the significance of selfless service, attract visitors seeking solace and inspiration.
