Explosion Near Israeli Embassy in New Delhi Raises Security Concerns; Tel Aviv Issues Advisory

In a concerning development, Tel Aviv has raised the possibility that the explosion near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi could be an intentional attack. Subsequently, an advisory has been issued for Israelis residing in India, with a specific focus on New Delhi. The advisory urges individuals to exercise caution, avoid crowded places like malls and markets, especially those frequented by the community, and remain vigilant. Notably, it emphasizes refraining from displaying Israeli symbols externally.

The advisory further advises against participating in events with a large number of participants that lack adequate security measures. It highlights the importance of refraining from sharing trip details on social networks, including photos and visit information, both before and during the trip.

The explosion occurred in the vicinity of the Israel embassy in Chanakyapuri, though no injuries were reported. Authorities discovered an “abusive” letter addressed to the Israeli ambassador near the site. Following the incident, Delhi Police promptly deployed teams from the crime branch, a bomb disposal squad, a dog squad, and the forensic department to the scene. The National Investigation Agency also examined the site.

Guy Nir, the spokesperson for the Israeli embassy, provided details about the blast, stating that it occurred around 5.48 pm. He noted that Delhi Police and the security team are actively investigating the situation.

Deputy Chief of Mission (Israel) Ohad Nakash Kaynar reassured that all diplomats and workers are safe. Security teams from Israel are collaborating closely with local Delhi security for a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

The one-page letter found near the blast site has been sent for forensic examination to check for fingerprints, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation. As the situation unfolds, heightened security measures and diplomatic cooperation are paramount to ensuring the safety and well-being of all individuals involved.
