Indian-Origin Family Perishes in Mysterious Ontario House Fire: Investigation Underway
Tragedy struck a quiet neighborhood in Canada’s Ontario province as an Indian-origin couple and their teenage daughter lost their lives in a “mysterious” house fire. The victims, identified as 51-year-old Rajiv Warikoo, his wife 47-year-old Shilpa Kotha, and their 16-year-old daughter Mahek Warikoo, were discovered deceased in their home located on Big Sky Way and Van Kirk Drive. What initially seemed like a residential fire soon raised suspicions among investigators. Peel Police Constable Taryn Young described the fire as “suspicious,” prompting a thorough examination of all available evidence to determine the cause.
Eyewitnesses recounted hearing a loud explosion preceding the inferno, further complicating the investigation. Kenneth Yousaf, a neighbor, described the heart-wrenching scene as the house became engulfed in flames shortly after the explosion.

Following meticulous examination, the Peel Police confirmed the identities of the deceased as Rajiv Warikoo, Shilpa Kotha, and Mahek Warikoo, all of whom resided at the address prior to the tragic incident.
Rajiv Warikoo’s legacy extends beyond his home, having served as a volunteer in the Toronto Police until 2016. Meanwhile, Mahek Warikoo was remembered by her football coach as a gifted player with the potential to secure scholarships at prestigious universities across North America.
As investigators continue their probe into the deaths, authorities urge anyone with pertinent information to come forward.
