Nara Lokesh Approaches Telangana High Court Over Portrayal of Naidu in RGV’s Film ‘Vyooham’

Nara Lokesh, the national general secretary of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and son of party chief N Chandrababu Naidu, has filed a petition with the Telangana High Court regarding the alleged misrepresentation of his father in Ram Gopal Varma’s upcoming film, ‘Vyooham.’ In the petition, Lokesh seeks to cancel the film’s censor certificate, claiming it deliberately portrays Naidu in an unfavorable light, thereby violating his fundamental rights.

Lokesh accuses the director and producer of attempting to tarnish Naidu’s image with the backing of Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy. He contends that the film, which revolves around a police officer navigating conspiracies, is part of a larger agenda to damage the reputation of the opposition TDP.

The petition asserts that the filmmakers are aware of potential losses but proceed with the project with the support of Jagan Reddy. The Telangana High Court is scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday.

Ram Gopal Varma, popularly known as RGV, has organized a grand pre-release event for ‘Vyooham’ at Indira Gandhi Municipal Stadium in Vijayawada, inviting college students and couples to attend. RGV claims a “vyooham” or conspiracy behind the film.

In addition to ‘Vyooham,’ RGV announced the release of ‘Shapadham’ in January, further intensifying the controversy. The director’s earlier film, ‘Yatra,’ focused on former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy’s padayatra and made during the 2019 elections. Now, RGV is working on ‘Yatra 2,’ depicting events from 2009 to 2019, with Malayalam actor Mammooty playing YSR and Tamil actor Jiiva portraying Jaganmohan Reddy.

The political landscape remains charged, with Naidu having spent over a month in jail in connection with a multi-crore skill development case. Jagan Reddy refutes allegations of political vendetta, asserting that central agencies conducted the investigation leading to Naidu’s arrest.

As the legal battle unfolds, the Telugu film industry becomes a battleground for political narratives, setting the stage for a high-stakes clash between rival parties.
