In his first Instagram post since the incident, Faruqui shared a selfie, sporting a smile and a blue T-shirt, alongside a cap. The timestamp on the post indicated 04:55, marking his release from custody. With a touch of humor, he captioned the photo, “Tired and travelling,” while geotagging his location as Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport.

The detention took place during a raid conducted by the Social Service branch of the Mumbai police at a hookah parlour in the Bora Bazar area of Fort. According to reports, the operation, which began at 10:30 pm on Tuesday, lasted until 5 am on Wednesday. Faruqui and others were detained after police discovered them smoking hookahs at the establishment. However, they were later released as the charges against them were bailable.

The detainees, including Faruqui, were booked under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), including 283 (danger or obstruction in public way or line of navigation) and 336 (act endangering life or personal safety of others), along with the Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act.

Quoting the police, news agency ANI reported, “Though it was a bailable offence, the police gave a notice and let Faruqui go. The police are investigating the matter.”

Munawar Faruqui gained prominence as one of the standout contestants on the 17th season of Bigg Boss. Despite facing various challenges during his stint on the reality show, including serious allegations made by Ayesha Khan, Faruqui managed to maintain his composure and resilience. Before his appearance on Bigg Boss 17, he had already won hearts as a winner of the reality show Lock Upp.

Faruqui’s return to social media following his encounter with the Mumbai Police has sparked curiosity among his fans and followers, who eagerly await further updates from the beloved comedian.
