Jimmy Kimmel Claps Back at Trump’s Oscars Critique with Witty Retort

In a fiery exchange of words, Jimmy Kimmel, the host of the 96th Academy Awards, didn’t hold back in responding to former President Donald Trump’s critical remarks about his performance. The banter unfolded during the Oscars ceremony, just before ‘Oppenheimer’ received the coveted Best Picture award.

Jimmy Kimmel Claps Back at Trump's Oscars Critique with Witty Retort

Kimmel, taking a playful jab at the former President, shared a faux “review” of his own hosting skills, reading from his phone, “Has there ever been a worse host than Jimmy Kimmel at the Oscars? His opening was that of a less than average person trying too hard to be something which he is not, and never can be.”

Mockingly suggesting a replacement, Kimmel continued, “Get rid of Kimmel and perhaps replace him with another washed-up, but cheap, ABC ‘talent,’ George Slopanopoulos. He would make everybody on stage look bigger, stronger, and more glamorous… blah, blah, blah. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!” The post was initially shared by Trump on his social media platform during the Oscars ceremony.

Adding fuel to the fire, Trump criticized the show as “disjointed, boring, and very unfair,” suggesting a return to awarding Oscars to those who truly deserve them.

In response, Kimmel thanked Trump for tuning in and cheekily remarked, “Isn’t it past your jail time?” The comment, likely referring to Trump’s ongoing legal battles, elicited cheers and laughter from the audience.

As Trump faces multiple felony charges ranging from election interference to financial fraud, the longstanding feud between him and Kimmel resurfaced at the Oscars. The two have sparred in the past, with Trump taking to social media after the 2018 Oscars, claiming it was the “lowest rated Oscars in HISTORY.”

The humorous exchange at the Oscars adds another chapter to the ongoing verbal sparring between the comedian and the former President.
