PM Modi Meets Padma Vibhushan Awardee Vyjayanthimala in Chennai

In a heartwarming encounter, Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently met veteran actor Vyjayanthimala in Chennai, where they engaged in a discussion and shared moments of mutual admiration. The meeting came shortly after Vyjayanthimala was conferred the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, the nation’s second-highest civilian award, on the eve of Republic Day 2024.

The first image captured PM Modi greeting Vyjayanthimala with folded hands, while in another, they were seated together during a discussion.

“Glad to have met Vyjayanthimala ji in Chennai. She has just been conferred the Padma Vibhushan and is admired across India for her exemplary contribution to the world of Indian cinema,” PM Modi wrote in his post, acknowledging the actor’s significant contributions to Indian cinema.

Reacting to the post, fans and followers expressed their joy and congratulations for Vyjayanthimala’s well-deserved recognition. One person commented, “What a delightful encounter! Congrats to Vyjayanthimala ji on receiving the Padma Vibhushan, a well-deserved recognition for her remarkable contributions to Indian cinema.”

On another occasion, veteran actor Hema Malini had also met Vyjayanthimala at her residence. Hema shared pictures on Instagram, describing the meeting as the “most memorable day” of her life. Vyjayanthimala, a legendary Bharatnatyam dancer and phenomenal actress, continues to be an inspiration to many, with Hema Malini expressing her awe for the icon’s everlasting enthusiasm for dance and her enduring charm.

Vyjayanthimala, who made her screen debut at the age of 16 with the Tamil film “Vaazhkai” in 1949, has left an indelible mark on Indian cinema. Iconic films such as “Devdas,” “Sangam,” “Madhumati,” and “Naya Daur” showcase her versatile talent. Although her last appearance on screen was in the 1970 film “Ganwaar,” Vyjayanthimala’s legacy continues to resonate in the hearts of fans and the film industry alike.
