In a recent interview, Hirani expressed his admiration for Shah Rukh Khan’s courageous decision to take on “Dunki,” considering the prevailing trend of mass-appeal films dominating the box office. Despite the commercial success of such movies, Shah Rukh embraced a different path, driven by the desire to convey a powerful social message through “Dunki.”

“We wanted to provide a great social message, and luckily we have succeeded in this mission. The film is doing very well at the box office, and people are really liking and appreciating ‘Dunki.’ I am very happy about it,” shared Hirani.

Addressing Shah Rukh Khan’s involvement in the project, Hirani emphasized the actor’s curiosity and bravery. He revealed that Shah Rukh was well aware of the box office dynamics but chose to prioritize a compelling story with a significant message over conventional commercial success.

In response to a clip of his recent interview, Hirani acknowledged Shah Rukh Khan as a “brave man and brave actor.” The director highlighted SRK’s enthusiasm for the story and affirmed that working with him was a fulfilling experience.

“Dunki,” which hit theaters on December 21, explores the theme of ‘Donkey Flight’—an illegal method used by individuals to enter countries like the US, UK, and Canada. The film features a stellar cast, including Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, Vicky Kaushal, Anil Grover, Boman Irani, and Vikram Kochhar. Despite facing competition from Prabhas’ “Salaar: Cease Fire – Part 1,” “Dunki” has been performing well at the box office, showcasing the audience’s positive response to its unique narrative and impactful storytelling.
